I like how John compared the blacks to the stars. He even takes lines from "Dreams Variation" by Langston Hughes. In the book it shows,"Night coming tenderly, Black Like Me." It tells about the stars and skies how they have humanity and validity as a human being. I think that John will stay in touch with the people he meets on his quest.
